Design decisions have consequences on our everyday well-being. Delivering good design begins with an understanding of what we’re trying to make better, why you want to make it better and how it could best serve peoples’ needs.

10TouchPoints is not just about picking on what doesn’t work, but looking out for what could be designed better for yourself and others.

What to nominate?
It maybe hard for some of us to immediately think of what are those that need redesigning, since everything seems to be well taken care of. So instead of just looking out for the faults, consider what other ways to make things better?

We believe that good design can bring or enhance different values of well-being to the different areas of our lives like the following:

Why should you nominate?
As users, your nominations and votes are critical in closing the gap between what you want and need, and what service providers can offer. It is about tapping into the intimate insights of a daily user, for designers and service providers to work with you toward better and more applicable solutions.

Top 10 most voted nominations will go toward the design competition, after which the winning redesign solutions will be considered by item owners for implementation.

So start making a difference in your environment today as you
1. Sign Up
2. Nominate items or services with your justifications
3. Vote for existing nominations that you think are worthy to be redesigned.

NOVEMBER 22, 2006 WEDNESDAY
PUBLIC TALK ON “GOOD DESIGN FOR EVERYDAY LIVING” WITH DICK POWELL OF SEYMOURPOWELL

From the world's first cordless kettle from Tefal in 1987, to Casio's reinvention from hi-tech watches to sporty G-Shock
in 1991, to the most compact cellphone from Nokia in 1992, and to the world's first purpose-built hydrogen fuel cell
motorbike in 2005 – Europe's most celebrated design consultancy SeymourPowell was behind them all.

Founding partner of SeymourPowell, Dick Powell will be letting you in on the secret of their success in developing  everyday items that are insightful solutions that meet both their physical and emotional needs. To SeymourPowell, "Design is about making things better for people. If it's not better...then it's not design."

In light of the launching of 10TouchPoints - a nationwide effort
of improving the design of everyday things in the public realm for better living, DesignSingapore Council is proud to present this talk by Dick Powell on the inspiration, thinking and
innovation process behind "Good Design For Everyday Living".
